Class of 1995
“I’ll be sure to always keep a part of Touchstone with me because it has helped to turn me into the person I am today,†says Megan Beane. Megan started at Touchstone Community School in 1990 when she was five years old, and was here until 1995. She went on to Whitinsville Christian School, and was graduated from Bentley University (2007) with a Bachelor’s degree in business management.
When asked to describe the impact of her experience here, Megan says:
“Touchstone entirely helped to shape who I am today. I had so many extraordinary experiences at Touchstone that it made me well prepared for life afterwards. I loved how Touchstone did not just teach us straight from textbooks, but we had such a stronger, more in depth education by submerging ourselves in our lessons. I remember learning about the Japanese culture in Tamara’s class. She had us make kimonos, drink Japanese tea, and learn Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes in Japanese. To this day I can still remember how to sing that song in Japanese! I learned so much about different cultures, religions, authors, arts, and music that have impacted how I view all of these things today. I can still remember the day I visited kindergarten before my first year at Touchstone. I was so nervous but everyone made me feel so welcome!â€
Currently, Megan works in the field of Human Resources at EMC Corporation in Hopkinton, MA. She joined EMC as a member of the HR Leadership Development Program, a 2 ½ year program that rotates future business leaders through different areas of HR. Since then, she has graduated from the program and now works for an HR executive as an HR Generalist/Program Manager.
“One of my favorite memories of Touchstone was the year we had the jump rope competition. I remember Kelly Purcell-Estabrook and I tied for the highest number of jumps and we were featured in the local newspaper. I also can remember learning how to decorate a cake in Julie’s class. We actually got to go on a field trip and take a cake decorating lesson. In fact, now cake decorating is a fun hobby of mine. My third favorite memory was of our music teacher Debby Freelander. I wrote a song one year called “I Picked a Cherry on the Tallest Branch.†Debby liked it so much she had the entire class sing it and put it on our class music tape that year!â€
